I own Dewatering Consultants, LLC in Florida and install wellpointing, sock trenching and pumps to dewater the soil so foundations and pipe can be installed in the dry.
My almost 13 year old son Max and I have dropped out after the first year of a new lease near New Smyrna, Fl. due to the economy and lack of sizeable deer. We still have our cabin adjacent to the lease.
This season we will go to S. Tx. mid Dec. to hunt on my best friends ranch near Uvalde. We really love it there. And another friend invited us back to Alabama again which we are scheuling for mid Nov. to maybe catch the rut. Look forward to those two hunts.

I think if one uses top of the line equip. and has boat or waders and glasses, one gets better pointage. My theory is if one buys the top of the line boat or waders, you get the trophy record size fish. Once I bought the medium size waders and real fast caught 3 river records.
I just want to get to the ocean so I can mount the cool looking fish.
Just yesterday, I began focusing on catching only the high dollar fish and hope to lessen my breakage and waste of points. Going for trout, dolly varden, grass carp , catfish because I like em,
I notice my releases were more than my catches and figured I should be more selective.

you are correct about the equip,boat and the waders..although beware the waders..they will break on you so figure on replaceing them..mine lasted 6 days once then 4 days..at 1000pts I wont buy another pair..boats are the trick for sure

thanks, I wasn't planning on winning, but I think the fishing we did between midnight and 1am helped inflate my total, in addition to the grass carps I caught. One was 32 pts one was 116 pts as I recall. Too bad cash wasn't involved.

When is the rut in central Alabama? My son and I need to schedule our hunt at a friends in Mintner which is west of Greenville, Alabama.
Last yr. we went 12/26 to 12/31 and it was full moon, cold and sucked. But the 3000 ac. holds huge racks and plenty of em. Want to up my odds. Any ideas?
some of the rut is split due 3 different strains that were brougt in year ago, I'm going to take a guess if it is anything like ours it begins the 1st to second wk of nov. we some times have a 2nd rut the starts around the 15 of Dec...Hope that helps!!
