  Cows give birth to twin calves about as often as it snows in Haiti-or no more than 1 percent of the time. Their  mom prolific cousin, white-tailed deer, typically drop one fawn in their first year, then twins after that, with an occasional set of triplets. Moose will have twins if food is plentiful.


  After a calf is born, the (cow,doe) will gobble up the afterbirth and any urine and feces the calf may excrete-all in an attempt to keep her calf as scent-free as possible, so predators don't sniff it out. Calves most times lie incredibly still while mom keeps a close eye not far away. If you find a (calf, fawn) all by its lonesome, just leave it alone. Chances are its not an orphan, Mom will soon be back to nurse it, and in a matter of days it will be off and running...
