My first lost deer
Posted On 11/05/2011 19:55:17 by deerhunter3ways

Yesterday I lost my first deer ever. I have never before shot a deer and not found it. I shot a nice 8 point yesterday. Waited about 45 minutes then started trailing him. My shot went a little high above the vitals area. He ran off with my arrow sticking out from just behind his sholder. I trailed him for about a mile and lost the trail. Made me sick thinking of him suffering like that. I hate making bad shots. I have never before done this in all my years hunting. Guess it was God telling me I'm not as good as I thought.

Thanks for the tip. I contacted a friend of the landowner the deer went on. He has 600 acers I believe. Still waiting to hear more back.

Look by water, a creek or river? mabe a pond. Most wounded deer will go to the water to cool the sting of the wound and stop the bleeding

Yea not a nice feeling at all. Still wondering if he is still in pain. Thanks

I can feel for you...I made a bad shot a couple years ago. It makes you feel like crap to have wounded a animal and not be able to find them. Well..I kinda found mine...he jumped in a river! Just found him a few days too late!!!  It will get better!
