Hey all,
Well, I'm a easy guy to get along with, unless you're a poacher and I find you hunting my stompin' grounds. Aside from that it's likely we'll get along just fine.
I'm a former archer who has picked up the sport again, mainly for hunting, but I may take a couple events in for a little competition...we'll see.
I started shooting archery at around the age of eight years old, won numerous tournaments here in Vt between the ages of 12 & 16, including four VT NFAA State Archery championships, and four silver medals in the NE State NFAA Championships. (NFAA is no longer within Vt as far as I can tell.) Now remember, I was young so I don't remember EVERYTHING about archery, but the experience has made it easy for me to pick up the sport again and put it to use.
I started fishing about a year before I started shooting archery, and it has been the real passion/calling for heading Outdoors. I do have a four year history of competitive bass fishing in the Arkansas, Tenn, Kentucky, and Lousiana region, but now relish in the pursuit of non-competitive fishing. Walleye, trout, bass, crappie are all on the list of targeted fishes.
Deer hunting was something I was introduced to as a teenager, but I was never really instructed on how to do it effectively. My dad just wasn't a big-time hunter (or perhaps he was just too exhausted from raising ten children). But, I have learned much over the years. I have never bagged a "trophy" Boone & Crockett or Pope & Young buck, but I don't much care either. Perhaps one day though. (But, I won't be paying an arm or a leg to do it.) I'm looking forward to hunting a particular black bear in our area next Fall (a three hundred pounder+), and keeping my fingers crossed in hopes of getting drawn for a moose tag this year.
I also enjoy hunting upland game birds, small game, varmints, and especially waterfowl. With always an eye out for a coyote (deer management) or a rabbit (to add to the pot).
Aside from hunting and fishing, I also enjoy snowboarding, creating web graphics, writing about the outdoors and where I hunt. And, whenever I can talk my son into joining me, it's a bonus...especially for the outdoor activities. This year, I'm hoping to coax him in the direction of outdoor photography to see if he would enjoy that.
Lastly, I'm single and my son lives with me for most of the year with the exception of the summer and winter breaks when I fly him out to visit his mother. I tend to be a bit of a recluse because I have an affinity for silence, peace, and solitude. That might sound a bit odd to most, but trust me I don't mind at all.
