Like to be at least 15 feet up but you can kill a deer sitting on the ground if your camo is right and you have cover.I Have Had More luck still hunting than anything ever.Dont Get me wrong though i love setting in my Protable about 15 to 20 feet up where i can see whats going on.

25-30 ft. Keeps the scent above the deer. Especially in the open oaks...

Usually 20' or higher. If I got a hot spot and have to be lower, then so be it. Like said before, guess it depends on the cover.....

Depends on the cover, like other members stated earlier. Usually 15-20 ft. Once you start to reach the 25, 30 ft or higher, you lose distance to the target, as well as shrinking the target kill zone. Again, it depends on the cover, and the available shooting lanes.

Its not the fall that concerns me ------ Its the sudden stop at the bottom.
Ground blind if you don't mind.

I have to look at the terrain, one of my best bucks came from a stand only 5 feet tall.

I would have to say depends on the season and type of terrain I am hunting, If it is Archery season I like to be at least 20 feet depending on cover and view, During gun season I like to be higher again depending on cover and view.
