Thanks for being here. A couple of useful sites are http://www.noaa.gov/ or www.weather.com. I personally use an iphone with the Weather Channel app which allows me to check the radar while I'm in the field. As for journaling your hunts, I would like to see you do that on DeerSpace. Some people use the Blogs, while others use the Forums. I welcome your ideas on how we can improve the site to make it even better. Your stories will be a great addition! John

Is there anyplace where you could make a fill in the blank for a majority of it...wind direction, temperature, pre front/post front, stand, time/date, solunar scale, etc, etc? Be nice to just pop in the info, write what ya saw, notes, etc.

Idk about gear used for 2 reasons, A) if your good at something, you never do it for free. B) I really dont care what you shoot and if I want to know, Ill ask but Im tired of people shoving matthews, hoyt, bowtech etc down people's throat. Maybe do weapon of choice, compound, recurve, crossbow, rifle, shotgun, muzzy etc.

I like the idea of having a hunter's journal here on deerspace.com. Hopefully we'll all be able to make entries into the journal this year showing success! As far as equipment used, I feel that it would be useful to have it listed. Such as what type of broadheads, or which slug you chose to use. I think there are enough different people on this forum that it would be a great asset to see what all the different people have chosen to hunt with. Sure, you may see a lot of "Mathews" bows, but I bet you'll also see a lot of Martin, Bowtech, Storm..etc. Variety is the spice of life, and I'd love to see what some of my fellow deerspace.com users take with them on their hunts. a journal would be great...
as far as the weapons a type ie long/recurve/compound/crossbow bows and rifle/shotgun/handgun/revolver/flintlock/inline would suffice... the drill down could be something like arrow type / carbon/aluminum/graphite and tip weight (maybe make) as well as grain / bullet. honestly, i would care less if someone shot a record book buck with a matthews / hoyt / bear bow... a bow yes, make of bow no...

Like texassportsman, I am a member of the Pro Hunters Journal (www.prohuntersjournal.com), which is a site where you can log all of the info that everyone has been talking about. Unfortunately, that site does NOT compare to this one!! John (admin), I think it would be a great idea to have a section on here. The other site is ok, but no where near the options, fun and endless sections like this site has. As for weather, and I will add in solunar tables (game and fish movement tables), Solunar Forecast (www.solunarforecast.com/solunarcalendar) and Field & Stream (www.fieldand stream.com/weather_hunt) are two great places to find the best times to hunt according to the minor and major movement periods. You can also find the best times for each day on numerous handheld GPSs, through one of the menu options ("tools" if I recall right). Those of you that have not tried it, or doubt it, I did until I tried hunting around the movement periods last year, and I am a true believer now!! I saw game moving throughout the entire day, but around the suggested movement periods, the game was definitely moving!! Several of my hunting buddies that beleive in it, and I, have taken more game during movement periods than we have outside of the periods. Good luck to all this season, and any questions, please feel free to hit me up.
